Autumn Exhibition 2003

Autumn exhibition is ULUS's most important yearly manifestation. First autumn exhibition was held in 1928 and was planned as an exhibition of Serbian artists' works. During its long history, this manifestation had changed its concept. The present concept involves the exhibition of artistic works - artists are invited to exhibit their works without being juried and there is a certain small number of works that have to be estimated by the selection panel. General idea is that the exhibition should unite the works of prominent artists as well as that some space should be given for the promotion of younger artists and even of the youngest ones.

In cooperation with the Goethe Institute from Belgrade, an exhibition of three eminent German artists of different generations is organized. They are the recognized representatives of the new German expressionism: Bernard Schultze, Emil Schumacher and Fred Thieler. The exhibition is to be accompanied by individual catalogues.

Credo

I deeply believe
That everybody`s sacrifice is built into general tomorrow.
I deeply believe
That our pain of today supports our future joy.
Without sacrifice, no glass shall keep the water, no brick shall support the wall,
No wall shall support the roof, and no roof shall protect the inhabitants - without sacrifice.
I deeply believe
That we shouldn`t gather against these and those, that we should gather together for these and because of those. The border between all of us is blurred and illusive, and there is no border that could hold for long against a staring look of love.
I deeply believe
That all trees are our friends, even those we never picked fruits from; that all people are our friends, even those we haven`t yet met; and that there`s no moment that had not already been rooted in immortality. There is no person who could express love to another person, without expressing it to us.
I deeply believe
That constant sacrifice of the Timeless is built into the foundations of the future. He is a young bride, bulit into high towers of the world. Through the wall, like in an ancient song, her milk pours - the milk is for her children, unsatisfied and unfed.
That is the highest task that God gave us - to drink, not to aks, to obey our thirst, to offer our hand, ourselves, to join His sacrifice.
